VALUE CHAIN

OUR POSITION IN THE VALUE CHAIN

We occupy a strategic mid-stream position in the South African agricultural value chain. Our role is to act as the primary engine that transforms raw, bulk harvests into high-quality, market-ready staples for a diverse range of buyers. By managing the complexities of processing, grading, and logistics, we allow farmers to focus on production while ensuring that vendors and industrial buyers receive a consistent, premium product.

Our Four-Stage Value Process

At Igita, we have refined our operations into a streamlined, four-stage process that ensures efficiency from the farm gate to the final buyer. This systematic approach allows us to maintain high standards while scaling to meet the needs of bulk industrial partners and local vendors alike.

Receiving

We begin with the professional intake of raw agricultural produce, primarily red speckled sugar beans and yellow maize, sourced directly from our network of trusted farmers. Every load is assessed upon arrival at our Warden facility for moisture levels and baseline quality to ensure it meets our high standards before entering the value chain. This direct procurement allows us to maintain full oversight of the product's origin and reliability.

Cleaning

Once received, the produce undergoes rigorous mechanical cleaning and grading using specialized machinery to remove stones, husks, and foreign objects. We sort every kernel and bean by size to ensure uniform quality that meets strict "A-Grade" industrial and retail standards. For our vendor-focused stock, we include a final polishing stage to enhance shelf appeal and ensure a professional finish.

Packaging

We provide versatile packaging options ranging from 500g and 1kg bags up to 50kg bulk tonnage to suit different market segments. A key feature of this stage is our White Label Packaging service, where we pack our graded products into your own branded bags. This allows wholesalers and retailers to build their own brand identity without needing to invest in their own processing infrastructure.

Marketing

The final stage is about efficient market access and high-volume brokerage. We leverage over 25 years of experience to broker large truckload deals for industrial partners while maintaining consistent stock for our "bakkie-load" vendor network. By handling the sales logistics and front-end education, we reduce the burden on our partners, allowing them to focus on their core business growth.
